Blue and Gold

Every year, my son’s Cub Scout Pack has a silent auction for the Blue and Gold Banquet. Last year, I donated gift certificates for my cakes and a quilt I made.

I had found this great Cub Scout fabric and HAD to use it! I went to buy some more of the fabric and my Hobby Lobby isn’t carrying it! Ack!

I had some canvas on hand, so it was time to pull out the Silhouette!

Blue and Gold 2012… Can’t wait for the bidding to start!

scout law

I painted the canvas gold. Then cut out the Boy Scout Law with a variety of fonts. I placed the vinyl letters on the canvas. I then painted the blue. After it was dry, I peeled off the letters, and voila!

scout motto

I painted the scout motto in the same way with a metallic paint as the base. After painting the blue over the vinyl letters, I placed the vinyl trefoil. I then white washed the canvas. Once dry, the vinyl was peeled off.

I turned the canvases over to the pack tonight and already have requests for more. How fun!

Have a great evening my friends!

Idle Hands

I have been so busy this week. On Monday, I had a mammogram to check out a lump the doctor found over the holidays, as well as a dentist and doctor visit. I went back to the Breast Center on Wednesday for an ultrasound. The lump turned out to be basically a 9mm blocked milk duct. (haven’t breast fed in 7 years!)

Work has also been CRAZY with lots of re-evaluations and reviews too.

To deal with the stress, I have been coming home and crafting in the evenings. Just small little projects, but it has helped me keep my sanity!

I will be sharing my projects over the next few weeks. Enjoy!

For gifts, I have been decorating 24oz double walled tumblers. These were found at Wal-Mart for less than $4 a piece. Each cup was thoughtfully designed using my Silhouette and outdoor vinyl from Expressions Vinyl.  Love this vinyl… I bought 24inch sheets for less than $2 each. It’s waterproof, like as in throw it on the top rack dishwasher proof!!!!

On the back side, each cup is personalized. I had so much fun with these! Cups were made for co-workers, friends, parents, kids, and Mr. Whimsy. How fun!

Here is a picture of my inspiration from Tervis. For the copywrited cups, they are the way to go, but you can’t beat making your own for less than a 1/3 of the price!

Come back soon and see what else I have been doing! Y’all have a great week!

Make it great, or not, the choice is yours!

Oh dear….

I have been so neglectful of my blogger friends and followers. Life has been CRAZY!

I have some great crafts that I have completed the last couple of months that I promise to post. You must not judge my photography, however. My Canon DSLR has been MIA since Thanksgiving. I am heart broken over all the lost pictures, more that the camera itself.

My daughter participated in the Opening Ceremony of the 100th Anniversary Girl Scout National Convention. Over 200 pictures GONE. Thanksgiving pictures GONE. My last download was October, my last picture taken was Thanksgiving.  I went through all of Christmas without my camera. I felt naked!

At this point, I cannot afford a new setup and I will NOT go into debt or take from savings. So now I have to figure out how I can earn some extra money. Do you think anyone would send a blogger a camera to test???? (Really, if you know someone, let me know!)

Have a blessed New Year my friends!

In Him,

Whyt
