Is it Fall yet?

Well, it has been under 100 degrees for a couple of weeks, now. But we are still breaking heat records here in Houston. It was 96 today. UGH!
Last week I finally gave in and started my fall decorating.
Fall 2011 001
I switched out the white hydrangeas and daisies in the tin flower bucket for more seasonal sunflowers, leaves, feathers, and gourds.
Fall 2011 002
Fall 2011 004
Added some pumpkins and pears…
The pressed flowers came as a card from friends of ours who are missionaries in France. The Bible verse is, “You are to be a blessing to others.” Galatians 6:10
Fall 2011 005
Some mums in a silver urn
Fall 2011 003
Then look what I found in my jar of corks…
Do you see it?
Mr. Whimsy hid a skull in my jar! Stinker!
Fall 2011 006
A monogramed pumpkin
Fall 2011 007
Another urn
And another pumpkin!
Fall 2011 010
Time to get the little one’s to bed. Tomorrow’s FRIDAY!
Have a great weekend!

Antique Week!

If you have been following fellow Texas bloggers, you may have heard about this little event known as Round Top....
It happens twice a year in the heart of central Texas,
the antiquing gala not to miss!

There are blog parties and junk proms and lots and lots of shopping! And its not just in the town of Round Top... It extends over several small towns along Highway 237. Warrenton, Carmine, and of course Round Top. And, the most exciting thing around is the opening of Rachel Ashwell's B&B and couture shop!

This Saturday I am planning on taking a trip down the road to look for some deals and lots of ideas! My first stop will be at Texas Rose to see what my friend Lesley at Saving Grace Creations is offering up. This will be her 3rd time with a booth at Texas Rose. Her furniture is beautiful and her smalls are sweet. Stop by and tell her I sent ya!

Here are some beautiful pictures of her booth...

Oh and last weekend Lesley and her momma stayed at Rachel's B&B while they got set up... How cool is that?
Jealous!

Ya'll have a great weekend and come on out if you can!

Happy Fall Y'all!

Giddy

Last week Mr. Whimsy said he needed a new bedside table. A while back, we bought a new bed. And even on a basic metal frame, the bed is about 33 inches tall. Immediately, I found me a table,
but the Mister just kept a short table.
And now I have permission to spend money!!! WooHoo!!!

Scouring Craigslist, I decided I wanted  sewing table. It would be the perfect height and I could hide my sewing machine.
Low and behold I found a cute table for $40.
Of course, I forgot the BEFORE pictures!

But after some ASCP Old White, wax, sanding and Oil Rubbed Bronze for the hardware, this our new bedside table...

The fires are still raging just to the north of us in Waller. Keep the firemen and families affected in your prayers. And prayers for lots of rain please!

Have a great week!

Long Weekend Love

What a wonderful weekend we had! The heat finally broke. We went from 109 to 90 in a week's time. Now if we could get some rain here in Houston, we would be set! On my way home this evening the sky looked hopeful....
But then in dawned on me, those aren't clouds... that is the smoke from the wildfires NW of Houston. The fire is 9 miles long and 3 miles wide. Prayers for those who have lost their homes during this crisis.
On Saturday, Holly came all the way from Austin
to pick up her sign I made...
NOT! But we did get to spend the day together with the kids. We took the little ones to The Children's Museum of Houston. FANTABULOUS! All 4 kids had a blast (and the mommies too!). I LOVE making memories with my BFF & the kids.

Lo and behold, Holly took her sign to work (as intended) and now I have requests for more! Better get to painting!
Here's #2 waiting for a quote!

Time to get the kiddos ready for bed! Have a blessed week!
